VISUAL THINKING STRATEGIES
Hi little friends! Today we're going to use VTS to give you two different opinions about the picture above. But first...What do we know about VTS?
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is a teaching method that improves critical thinking skills through teacher-facilitated discussions of visual images. VTS encourages participation through a group problem-solving process. It uses art to teach thinking, communication skills, and visual literacy.
Here you have some examples:
SUDAN'S REVOLUTION

María:
1. What’s going on in this picture?
In this picture there is a woman on top of a car or something like that. Maybe she is making a speech or singing. There are lot of people and most of them are recording the moment with their phones.
2. What do you see that makes you say that?
There are lot of people looking at the woman, listening and recording her, so she may be an important person who wants to transmit a message.
3. What more can we find?
Most of the people who are there are women, and because of their clothes we can think that the picture is taken in India. We can see in their faces and in their body expression that they are enthusiastic.
Malena:
1. What’s going on in this picture?
In this picture we can see a group of people recording a woman. She is on top of a car and I think she is screaming. Maybe this photo was taken in India or some eastern country. Also, we can see that most of people are women.
2. What do you see that makes you say that?
Because of the woman’s face and her raised finger, I can sense that she’s screaming. She’s probably demonstrating on some social issue. Since most of the people are women, she might be talking about their rights. As i said, maybe it’s an Indian country or an Arabian country because of the clothes they wear.
3. What more can we find?
They are in the street so, I supose that it is a improvide manifestation. Finally, in the distance, I can see a sign with Arabic letters.

CLASSROOM TIME

1. What's going on in this picture?
This picture shows a classroom with lots of children. Most of them are standing and I supose that they are watching someting on the board. Also, I can see the teacher. She is sitting in her desk and she is reading something. I think it is a current class in a normal school.
2. What do you see that makes you say that?
I think that there is a current school because the picture shows a mixed class (boys and girls). Maybe they are around eleven years old. As they are looking at the board, I think they are doing a video call or some pictures. I think that because they are doing poses. Maybe teacher is correcting some activities while students are doing other things.
3. What more can we find?
Probably they are from a South American country because of their features. Maybe they are in the classroom because it's a rainy day and it's recess time. That’s why I think the teacher has let the students do something entertaining while she spends her time correcting.
