Sinopsis

A group of eight high school students: Hugo, Esther, Jacobo, Diana, Álvaro, Cristian, Andrea and Héctor. They have in common the lack of interest in reading and they are selected for a school experiment called Hyde, by Professor Vidal. The experiment consists of moving away from civilization, in a mansion, for seven days without any external connection. They are submitted to a strong subliminal therapy to encourage interest in reading through a daily dose of videos, images, music... These have subliminal content that they end up discovering that it encourages violence among them. When the first murder occurs, all the suspicions among the students begin. There is no longer anyone to trust. Anyone in the house could be the killer. Something makes these kids special: something they don’t know about but that links their lives, something they’ll have to discover in time if they want to save themselves...

Personal opinion:

I really like this novel because it’s a thriller that makes you part of the story, always from the point of view of the characters. you can feel their emotions, even fear. I started reading this novel because I am a fan of its author. I have read several of his works as "Donde surgen las sombras" and "Valkiria: Game over" which are thrillers too. I don’t like horror movies but as far as literature is concerned, I love them and this novel fulfills my expectations.

'Hyde' is one of those stories that impress you from the first page. In the prologue we find a very tense setting. A setting that we understand as we read. I have to admit that it is one of those books that makes you form theories, and in each one, one of the characters is the bad one. At the end you doubt even the character that you like the most or that you see the most harmless, and I guess that’s one of the things the book pretends. When you find out who makes everything, you think, "I knew it"... But no, you didn’t know it. Maybe it appears in your mind for a second, but then you think on to another suspect and you forgot him/her. Or at least that happened to me.

I love that the author has been so detailed when presenting the settings, even the strongest or bloodiest.

Although many people say that there are few descriptions of the characters, the ending of this novel is predictable and that it is a surreal story, I liked it a lot and that’s why I give it a 4.5/5
